After a protracted legal battle with Florida’s Department of Education, I was part of an investigative reporting team at the Florida Times-Union that won the lawsuit and reported on the value-added measure formula the state uses to evaluate public school teachers.
The Times-Union was the only media outlet in Florida with access to this data, drawing national attention from places like the Miami Herald and even the Columbia Journalism Review.
Melissa Ross of WJCT in Jacksonville invited me and colleague Topher Sanders to the studio to discuss the watchdog journalism. Listen in as Topher and I discuss the specifics.
